Introduction to Superthread

Superthread combines task tracking and documentation into a single app for your whole team.

Basic concepts

Workspace

Everything you do in Superthread happens within a Workspace. You created one when you signed up for an account. They’re typically named after your company or organisation.

Cards

Cards are the basic unit of work in Superthread. You might know them as tasks, issues, or tickets in other tools. You can create a card from anywhere using the keyboard shortcut C or clicking the ‘New card’ button at the top of the sidebar. Cards can have ‘parent’ → ‘child’ relationships to make it easy to split up large tasks into smaller pieces.

Boards

Boards contain cards and visualise the workflow that cards go through to be completed (e.g. todo, doing, done). You can create as many boards as you like. Boards can be changed at anytime between three layout options:

  • Board (default)

  • List

  • Timeline

Pages

Pages are collaborative documents with text, images, markdown, and inline comments. Take notes, write specs, build a wiki, or share information publicly.

Spaces

‘Spaces’ are containers for Boards, Pages, and the team members working on them. They’re typically named after teams, projects, subjects, or anything else you like.

Spaces can be:

  • Open – available for anybody in the Workspace to browse and join.

  • Private – can only be joined by invitation from existing members of the Space.

Spaces that you’re a member of will appear in ‘Spaces’ section of your sidebar.

Everybody can create spaces, add team members to them, or leave them at any time.

You can browse the full list of Spaces that your team has created in the Manage spaces page.

Your sidebar

The sidebar is how you navigate Superthread and keep things organised. Everybody’s sidebar will look a bit different depending on which Spaces they’ve joined. However everybody will have the following sections:

  • Inbox – where you’ll be notified about things your working on.

  • My work – where you can easily see cards assigned to you and created by you.

  • Favourites – any Card, Board, Page, or View that you favourite will show up in this section.

  • Spaces – the list of Spaces that you’ve joined or been added to.

To keep things organised, just drag and drop Cards, Boards, and Pages into the sidebar to move them around.

Invite your team

Superthread works best when all your team are invited to the same Workspace. You can invite people by clicking the ‘Invite’ button at the bottom of the sidebar. Anybody you invite to a Workspace will be able to browse and join any of the ‘Open’ Spaces created within it.

You see who is already in your Workspace and re-issue pending invites from:

Settings > Workspace > Members

Import your existing tasks

The fastest way to get started in Superthread is to bring your existing work with you. We’ve built importers to make this process simple. You can find them in:

Settings > Workspace > Importers

Superthread currently has importers for:

  • Jira

  • Shortcut (Clubhouse)

  • Trello
